Queensland and National Historic Formula Ford Race Dates for 2019
Historic Formula Ford Series 2019 As you are or hopefully are aware that this year is the 50th anniversary of competition for Historic Formula Fords in Australia. To help celebrate this important year there will be both State and National Series held. I will stick with the Queensland Points series and the National “Driver to Europe series” If anyone requires information on other State series being held, please let me know and I will try to get some information.I can confirm that both of these series are confirmed with the following dates allocated;Queensland Points Series•4 Rounds to be Held at Morgan Park on the following Dates1.Autumn Historics 4-5 May2.Historic QLD 13-14 July 3.Qld Champ Rd 3 28-29 Sept4.Qld Champ Rd 4 2-3 NovPoints for each round will be allocated on the following basis;•For each category, points will be awarded as follows to outright placegetters in each race (Fa, Fb and Fc):o1st 30 points, 2nd 26 points, 3rd 24 points, then dropping by 2 points per place. The competitor achieving the highest number of points accrued in the series rounds for the category will win the series for that category. However, if two or more competitors achieve the same number of points, the winner will be:a) The competitor who achieves the greatest number of 1st places.b) If the number of 1st place achievements is the same, the competitor who achieves the greatest number of 2nd places.c) If the number of 2nd place achievements is the same, the competitor who achieves the greatest number of 3rd places, and so on until a winner emerges. We are hoping to get as many cars on the track as possible for this 50th year and look forward to your participation.National “Driver to Europe series2019 FORMULA FORD DRIVER TO EUROPE COMPETITION CALENDARRound 1. HSRCA Sydney Motorsport Park, 8-9 JuneRound 2. HRCC Morgan Park, 13-14 JulyRound 3. SCCSA Tailem Bend, 14-15 SeptemberRound 4. VHRR Historic Sandown, 25-27 OctoberTo commemorate the 50-year milestone, the Historic Formula Ford Australia Association will promote a four-round competition for Fa (pre-1978), Fb (1978-83) and Fc (1984-89) cars, with support from Factory Enterprises. Drivers will count their best three rounds, with the winning drivers in each class receiving two airfares from Australia to the UK. Second and third in each class will also receive prizes, with details to be confirmed.I hope we can manage to get a few Queensland cars to some of these events. All being well I am hoping to attend the first round and know of at least two others with similar thoughts. With both the State and National series, if you are considering going, please let me know.Further information from our modern FF cousins and their competition dates. If you need some extra track time, then you could also enter the CAMS FF QLD Championship. This is open to all FF's including Historic. As you will note Rounds 5 and 6 of this championship coincide with out Historic Series Rounds 3 and 4 and we are likely to share a grid with the modern FF's on these rounds.Historic FF's are welcome to enter the other rounds and as well as more track time it also gives you the opportunity of driving on other tracks QR and Lakeside (Lakeside to be confirmed – see below).Only round 2 clashes with our race events with Autumn Historics being held that weekend, some may clash with Warwick District Sporting Car Club Sprints(WDSCC) Series. My summary of clashes below; Rd 1No Queensland Clashes, but Historic Wakefield is on that weekend. I may have a run in Rd 1 (Need the practice) and will keep and eye on the entry list on the website.Rd 2Clashes with Autumn HistoricsRd 3Great chance for a drive at Lakeside, if they sort out the noise issues. Count me in if it is on.WDSCC Sprints round C2 is on that weekendRd 4Chance to try a one day event at QR if you don't fancy racing for the whole weekend.
